Will a food truck actually fit at your Tuscan villa?

The practical questions to put to your venue before you book any mobile catering.

Our pizza truck parked on a driveway at a Tuscan villa before service

Most Tuscan wedding villas were built long before anyone thought about parking a van next to the garden. Almost all of them work anyway, but it is worth asking the questions early rather than three weeks out.

What we need

  • A flat spot where the truck can stand for the service
  • A route a van-sized vehicle can drive to reach it
  • Enough room around the serving side for guests to queue comfortably

The flame question

Ask your venue whether open flame is allowed outdoors. Many say no, particularly in July and August. Our oven runs on gas inside the truck, not on wood, so this restriction does not affect us — but it will affect other mobile catering you are considering, so it is worth knowing the answer.

Questions to put to the venue

  • Can a van reach the area where we want to serve, and on what surface?
  • Is there a curfew for music or for suppliers leaving?
  • Is open flame permitted outdoors?
  • Are external caterers allowed, or only the in-house kitchen?
  • Where can guests eat if the weather turns?

Gravel, slopes and olive groves

Gravel is usually fine. Steep, narrow or unsurfaced tracks need checking, and so does a lawn after heavy rain. If you are unsure, send us the venue website or a photo of the drive and we will tell you before you commit.

Timing on the day

We arrive well before the service to park and heat the oven, serve for 3 hours, then clear our own equipment. If the venue needs supplier arrival and departure times in writing, tell us and we will give them.

Seating

Tables and chairs are not provided by us. Some villas include them, some do not, and rental suppliers cover the rest. Confirm it with the venue before assuming.

Send us the venue website and we will look at access before quoting.
